Reading some of my threads you may have discovered my computer has broke and i got a full refund on my old gtx 560ti graphic card (didn't oc it) which injected my bank account with a nice 167 quid surplus to spend. Rethinking it im deciding to be flush and use the lot that i got refunded to invest in a new card.

I checked the above out and picked the 760 (gigabyte) for 187-191 quid as the 670 seemed to be discontinued.

Any one suggest a better card for the same price range, i know the 770 is only 50 quid more but any more than 200 quid for a card i just can't do out of principle. Also read that the 700 cards use the same chipset as the 600's but haven't read up enough to see if the margin is small enough to not bother with the 700.

I3 Processor; 4g memory; 650 psu seasonic

I don't like gigabyte because some of their models don't have the cooler mounted right, they voltage lock some cards and IMO the cards are kinda ugly. Its not like there is something wrong with the 760, that I know of, just when there are other brands to choose from I try to get them until gigabyte becomes almost perfect like evga or Asus. Honestly I bet you'd love the card its just out of principal I don't buy from them.

As for Asus not mounting the cooler right I have never heard of that so I'm going to assume its only happened to a few people. But that's fine there are other great cards to choose from

The indisputably best 760 is the MSI 760 hawk so if you can find it for a reasonable price get it. I have it and it is silent even...

Most of the 700 series are rebrands of the 600 series. 670 > 760 in terms of performance, but the difference between the two isn't incredily significant. Plus you get newer tech with the 760.

As long as you're getting a card from the major name brands (ASUS, EVGA, MSI, Gigabyte) you should be fine. That being said, go with the cheapest one you can find, ideally it should have at least 2 fans, though.

Get another 4gb RAM and you will have a well balanced gaming system.Nowadays 4gb has become the minimum requirement while developers are reaching towards the 64bit platforms. So its good to have some headroom.

OK sounds like its a 3220. For the price there's not really any competition other than the 270x (in thr USA) but its about 15% worse so don't get it.

Now as for choosing which 760 you get, I would get MSI gaming or Asus. Just whichever is cheaper. Evga makes a good 760 just not quite as good. I'm not a fan of gigabyte GPUs in general so I won't suggest getting that one.

Hey just one more quick idea: Idk the price of the 280x over there (here it is priced like a 780) but if you can get it for a reasonable price it performs on par with the 770

I thought Gigabyte would be a good option as it has 3 fans and the feedback regarding their rma policy sounds almost to good to be true. Also read on amazon reviews about the 760 asus didn't properly solder the fans/heatsink properly giving 100 degree temps. Whats the reason you don't like Gigabyte?

The 280x is roughly the same cost as the 770. Also been reading (briefly) that radeon are not what they use to be in terms of performance v cost?

Btw to the other posts i wasn't ignoring you, my phone doesn't seem to work well with this forum at all, and it just seem to crap out as i was trying to finish the post.

@enemy; If i could get a 670 from retail that would be great only i don't think its possible...

@anik; thanks for tempting me into digging deeper into my pockets.

The indisputably best 760 is the MSI 760 hawk so if you can find it for a reasonable price get it. I have it and it is silent even while gaming (fans stay at 33%) and I'm a noise freak who thinks the noctua Nf p12 at full on is too loud...

The second card I would suggest is the msi gaming. It has a very similar cooler to the hawk so it runs cool and quiet also.

If you can't buy those or just feel picky today, my third suggestion is the EVGA ACX which is also pretty good just not quite as quiet. Evga as a brand is in the top three and are known for reliability and quality.

PALIT jetstream is pretty good I think but palit isn't available over here in the USA so I haven't paid much attention to it and can't really recommend it too much past what I've heard here and there about jetstream cards

ZOTAC sometimes has issues like cooler mounting but it happens a lot more than other brands like gigabyte. I would suggest avoiding zotac

PNY is a budget brand and while not bad there are better options.

I think I got most of them haha

So in order of what I think you should get:
MSI hawk, Asus direct cu II, MSI gaming, Evga acx, Gigabyte Windforce, PNY, Zotac and most others not listed here unless I happened to forget a really good card

Honorable mention: Palit jetstream since, like I said, I can't buy one so haven't looked at it

Oh yeah and try to not get a reference cooler (the single fan blower type). Its not bad just not near as good as some of the aftermarket ones

Hope I helped!
