Additional case fan to cool processor

Found my CPU (q6600 core quad) overheating (73 C). Changed thermal paste but the temps only dropped down insignificantly to low 60s. The fan also seems to be OK...

What I did next is I put a very powerful case fan sideways to blow directly on the heat sink. This case fan is blowing at 90 degree angle to CPU fan. The temps went down dramatically - they are now between low 30s and low 40s С. Everything seems to work fine.

My question is - do you foresee a problem with this setup? Can it in any way damage the CPU fan - because fans are blowing onto CPU heatsink at 90 degree angle to each other?

Thanks in advance for your help :-)

That is a good setup and will not damage it, but that CPU can actually go up to about 90c, 75c if you don't want to damage it over time. Looks great now.

Thank you so much for prompt reply. The reason I was concerned is because according to Intel 71C is maximum safe operating temperature for Q6600...But then of course if you take instructions seriously - apple warns that my IPod's minimal safe operating temp is 0 which is somehow not to be misconstrued that you can't take it with you outside in winter LOL

Yeah, they're just avoiding lawsuits.
