Let me come straight to the point.
I need the BEST graphics card out there. Money is no problem. (Not going for dual cards).
Problem: I am a BIG noob.
I searched a lot only to get more confused. From around tons of sites (including discussions in Tom's Hardware), some people are saying 290X as 'titan-slayer', some calling GTX 780 Ti better than the other two and some are saying that Titan is the heavyweight champion. To be more specific,
1)EVGA GTX 780 Ti CLASSIFIED EDITION is better performer than Titan (Amazon customer reviews),
2) R9 290x outperforms Titan according to gpuboss.com and also some discussions here in Tom's hardware.
3) GTX Titan and the new GTX Titan BLACK are self-claimed on the top (logically, maybe that is why it comes at a $1000 price)!

Again, I have read that AMD runs like a room heater and has driver and service issues.
MOST ANNOYINGLY, people seem to be fans of either AMD or nVIDIA and hitting out at each other.
Again, there are hell a lot of graphs showing 3DMark Score, FPS in different games (more of less different statistics show up in different sites).
MY PURPOSE: To get the BEST card for gaming (NOT interested much to get the best performance per dollar) that will last quite a few years (i.e. future proof).
ADDITIONAL INFO: I am from India. If AMD cards reaches freaking high temperatures (as I have read), I have to rule it out. (But if it the best, I am up for it and will spend on a good cooling system).
N.B. My friend has told me to wait until Titan BLACK is available and buy that.
Please give an unbiased review. Because no doubt I am extremely confused. :(

Titan was the flagship prior to the 780 launch (780 is slower at stock speeds but can easily be overclocked well past the performance of a Titan).

If money is no concern, performance it would be: 780 Ti > 290X > Titan

AMD cards do run hot, and use more power. If you're watercooling the GPU, that would remedy the heat problem with the 290X, but simply, the 780 Ti is currently the best single GPU on the planet that is readily available to purchase by consumers.
