Hi there,
I have previously finished my first build, I have three monitors that I would like on extended mode on my pc.
HDMI and VGA work fine but I cant seem to get the DVI-D to work with a adapter to vga.
My specs are:
MSI z87 GD65
Intel Pentium g3220 (will be upgrading too intel i7 4770K soon)
32gb Kingston Hyperx red Ram.

I have checked my cpu does support three active screens, do I need some kind of special adapter apart from a £2 one on ebay?

More about : dvi work vga adapter msi z87

DVI-D doesn't carry the analog VGA signal.

And I am using the intergrated intel graphics but have got a amd radeon 7970 on the way

Should work, though I don't personally recommend such an option. There is always a bit of lag introduced when doing such a conversion. Just how much depends on the quality of the converter. If you intend to do any gaming, or run other applications where even the slightest lag would be unacceptable then this option is definitely not for you.

Ok thanks for the advice, I think its best to just buy a new monitor in that case ;)
