I just hooked a Saphire radion 6870 to my duel monitors but it only detects one. I have one DVI connection and one hdmi how do I get it to detect both monitors and extend my desktop?

I believe I installed the correct drivers and I just used the standard monitor cables one is DVI and one HDMI. I get a display but both displays are exactly the same and when I go into windows control panel and detect it shows both as display 1 and now option in the drop down menu for a second display??
