Mysterious wireless connection problem

Hi, I've just bought a new computer and it seems impossible to connect it to the home wifi network. I'm using a Netgear WNDA3100 USB wireless adapter and have downloaded the newest software for it for my operating system (Windows 8.1), but when I try to connect to my network with it it just says it can't connect. What's weird is all the parts work individually:

  • ■ The same connection works fine with other computers in the house.
    ■ The USB adapter can connect to the network when used on other computers.
    ■ The USB adapter can connect to other networks when used on this new computer.
So it seems the problem maybe comes from the computer and the network being incompatible?...I thought maybe an IP conflict and tried changing IP addresses but it made no difference :(
Anyone have any ideas what might be going on?
Thanks!

Since you are setting the IP address manually, try allowing the Netgear router's DHCP service to handle the IP assignment for you.

Thank you for the replies.

COLGeek - I'm using WPA (TKIP)

Pooneil - yeah I did have it automatically assigning them to start with, I only tried setting them myself when I saw it wasn't working.
