I have this issue for quite some time: My HP Pavilion dv3 dual core laptop's(having windows 7) screen turn color(usually white but random) and the system hangs(as caps lock don't work as it's light don't get on/off, the fan keep on running and task like downloading, copying don't get completed). The screen remains like that until I press the power button and start the system again. This problem may happen anytime. Sometime after very long(2 hour), may be after 1 hour, or it may happen suddenly after 5 minutes or even 1 minute.
And sometimes while rebooting too it causes problem. Sometime the system start normally and sometime it hangs in between even before windows boot.
Steps already taken:
I had it checked for heating problem but the problem didn't go away..
Re-installed the windows
Tried windows 8. Problem still persisted.
