Hi,
My computer is randomly getting BSOD errors - (normally when playing games – but not always),
I have downloaded bluescreenview, and the dump files mostly display the following information:

Bug Check code: 0x00000124
Parameter 1: 00000000`00000000
Parameter 2: fffffa80`092e8028
Parameter 3: 00000000`fe200000
Parameter 4: 00000000`00021136
Caused by driver: hal.dll
Caused by address: hal.dll+12a3b
Crash address: ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0

Computer specs if it helps:

Operating System - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
CPU - Intel Core i5 3570K @ 3.40GHz
RAM - 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 667MHz
Motherboard - Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H
Graphics - 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660

I haven’t over clocked my system (as a friend warned that his kept on getting BSOD’s … ironic)

I have being browsing the web for solutions, but have had no luck –would really appreciate a bit of help!!!

bugcheck 0x124 is WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

-this will be a error generated directly by the CPU and dumped back to windows to provide the bugcheck.
most often it is caused by overclocking or incorrect voltages applied to the CPU.

-I would start by updating the BIOS to clear any automatic overclocks and reset values back to defaults. You might also want to check that your BIOS is selecting correct voltages for your CPU (vcore and VccPLL)

- this can also be caused by corrupted BIOS setting, failing power supply power regulation, failure in motherboard power regulators, over taxed power supplies (brown out condition), too much voltage to VccPLL when not overclocking.

- I have seen some systems that had old overclocking software installed that automatically overclocked the CPU and set the voltages to very old standards on the newer processors and caused this type of problem.

if you put the memory dump file on the cloud I can dump the internal error code and it may give you a Idea of what the CPU is complaining about.
most of the time it will be a CRC errror in one of the banks of the cache memory buffers inside the cpu but it could be some other error from the cpu.

The whocrash report had several of the following:

On Thu 27/02/2014 20:25:43 GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\022714-55567-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: hal.dll (hal+0x12A3B)
Bugcheck code: 0x124 (0x0, 0xFFFFFA80092E8028, 0xFE200000, 0x21136)
Error: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR
file path: C:\Windows\system32\hal.dll
product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: Hardware Abstraction Layer DLL
Bug check description: This bug check indicates that a fatal hardware error has occurred. This bug check uses the error data that is provided by the Windows Hardware Error Architecture (WHEA).
This is likely to be caused by a hardware problem problem. This problem might be caused by a thermal issue.
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system that cannot be identified at this time.

Hi going to try the windows repair later,

I haven’t got a clue what I’m looking at with the temp or voltage – im assuming the CPU you’d need to know:

Average core temps are

Core #0 - 35.6
#1 - 36.3
#2 - 36.2
#3 - 36.7

Average volts

#0 - 0.831
#1 - 0.892
#2 - 0.894
#3 - 0.889

Is this normal?

debugger indicated a cache memory error on processor 2 memory bank 5
BIOS Version F17
BIOS Release Date 08/22/2012
Manufacturer Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
Product Z77X-UD3H
Processor Version Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz
Processor Voltage 8bh - 1.1V
External Clock 100MHz
Max Speed 7000MHz
Current Speed 3600MHz

there is a new BIOS out (beta) version f20e.

Hi scout sorry for late reply - i looked on the BIOS - couldn't see to much information - from what saw the ram is 1.500v and each has 0.750v - i have no idea if i looked at the right part though to be honest, does this seem about right?
