There's no option when i go into f10 set- up ..Its only says i can boot from notebook multibay or hdd.
How can i boot my compaq xp laptop from a cd?

its a compaq nc6000, rebuilt. idk about the motherboard.. i cant get that far on that laptop to use the link you gave. when i turn on the laptop is says NTLDR missing or something. sorry i am so bad at computer stuff! Just trying to get it on enough to save my lost passwords and stuff.

when i get in the bios the tab options are file, options, tools, and advanced.. the only one that says about boot order is advanced.. and then the only options to boot listed are Multibay or hdd

Ok, I Hadnt thought of that.. I will definatally try, and be working on it more tonight. Im not sure about that partitioning. can I take the hd out and put it in the new laptop to get my saved stuff? Have to get kids will reply later, thanks again
