so im planing on building a desktop computer.
its my first time ever building a pc, but i did some research...
the motherboard im planing on using is this one
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaf2a88xmd3h

its the Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H Micro ATX FM2+

and the case i wanna use is this one
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/rosewill-case-challenger

its the Rosewill CHALLENGER ATX Mid Tower Case

the case comes with three fans
but the motherboard has only 2 system fan headers...
which im guessing is what i plug them in too

so could i make the three fans work, and if so how ???

i havent bought anything yet, so i could still change the motherboard...

thanks, hope you could help

how does a fan spliter work ?
do they split the power and the rpm ?
or does it just send more power ?
can i still control both fans seperatly ?
and also, the case comes with three fans (one in the back, one in the front and one on top)
if i dont buy a spliter, which fans should i hook up, and use ?

I wish somebody would answer those questions. I'd like to connect all 3 of my case fans to my mobo which only has 1 fan header. Can you control both fans seperately?

What do most of yall do? Some of yall have cases with a million case fans. Even the $100+ mobo's only come with 2 fan headers so how are yall doing it?

If you use a splitter, you can't control them separately. They will all go the speed speed as the main header they are plugged into tells them.

And not sure what 100+ mobo's you've looked at, my Asus has 5 headers, 2 CPU and 3 system ones.

You also need to get a PWM splitter if you are using 4-pin fans with a 4 pin header, or a 3pin splitter is the fans and header are 3 pins.

Upon closer look at Newegg's mobo specs and prices, you're right. Even $60 mobos have 2. I guess was thinking of my current piece of crap which only has 1.

Regardless, how does the PWM work? Does the mobo automatically control the fans depending on temps or do you manually set RPM's?
