Hi --

With what would normally be a very easy process I am getting ever so stumped... installing windows 7 on my new laptop...

Here it goes some background info, first this is a brand new laptop I just bought it and received it today in fact.... as it turns out the BD/DVD drive appears to be garbage!

When I put in the windows 7 DVD it spins for a second gets to the loading files/starting windows screen and freezes at the Windows 7 black loading screen...

These are the steps I have taken...

1. ) first off I have 2 different windows 7 DVD's tried both.. same result... loaded at boot with both several times and freezes same spot...

Step 2: ) tried to boot within WIndows 8 and froze once there. But did at least get to the point it looked like it wanted to load, however, the drive was in a bad format it told me and I had to reformat at the boot disc screen and install from there it said...

Step 3. ) I took the SSD out of my laptop put it within my working PC and loaded windows 7 from the boot drive there... everything worked great.. got Windows 7 installed and thought I was on my way... so I put it back into the laptop and tried to boot up and I got an error immediately that told me this precisely.

File: \Boot\Bcd

Status: 0xc000000f

Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.

It appears when I boot up, no blue screen, just black and then this.

>.< I love ASUS and I hope this isn't something to be worriesome

One thing I definitely think I need to know is if there is an alternative way to the DVD to install windows to the SDD... within the laptop... usb... usb DVD? I don't care for the moment if the internal BD/DVD doesn't work if I can find a solution to workaround it... I can even look into fixing it later.. for now I just want to get it up and running with windows 7 if possible.

any ideas... ?
