Hi all. I ordered a slim DVD drive for my mini itx case. I was stupid enough to think it had a SATA connector. Problem is that it has a connector which I have never seen before. I am not sure if it is a slim IDE because it has a long strip in the middle.

Here is a link to my model. It is a GDR-8083N.

and another link.

Can you please tell me what connector it is and if it will work with windows 7/8.

Thanks!!!!! :)

it probly is compatible with windows 8, if it doesnt work at first, go download the latest driver. if that doesnt work, try this: (it probly wont work but it has once for me. download the driver, and before installing, right-click the installer and go to properties. then on the compatibility tab, set it to windows 8 if you have that option.)

I'm not sure about the adapter. The adapter I linked above is supposed to work with all slimline IDE drives. The only thing I can think of is that your drive uses some type of proprietary connection. This is from the description of the adapter I linked to:

"This SATA to Slim Optical IDE Drive Adapter lets you connect any slimline IDE-based optical drive to a computer through a Serial ATA port.

Fully compatible with all ATAPI ODDs, the adapter features a 7-pin SATA data connector for connection to the host computer, as well as a 50-pin connector for slim IDE drives."
