Solution
with the windows install you go into the bios on boot up of the pc and change the boot order from hard drive to cd-rom and put the windows cd into the cd-rom drive. when you boot from the cd-rom you get a message hit any key to boot from cd-rom. if the new hard drive is blank and not partitioned windows will make two a system restore and a data one for you. if the drive vendor has made a partion you have to have windows delete it and then make the ones needed for the os install. with the os install it just ask for some simple info like your languge and time zone and the windows registration number. it take 10-20m for the installer to run...it reboot in the middle after it installs what it needs to your hard drive. on reboot dont hit any...

You'll want to setup a bootable image of the operating system you are installing - easiest way is to purchase a retail copy of that OS which can come with a boot disk. Another way is to purchase a license, download the .iso file for that operating system and setup a boot disk to either a DVD or a flash drive. I am partial to the flash drive but that is strictly a matter of preference - there are numerous Windows 7 boot disc creator utilities available for free online. Here's a link to how to use that:

For drivers, the most important wants are the chipset drivers and your network driver - virtually everything else Windows 7 will download directly through windows update. Easy peasy...

then the soundcard and network drivers. if your using the onboard video there should be the drivers for them there.
once you get online install a anti virus software first. there few free ones like avg and avast.
then download flash and java..most are needed for todays web pages.
when online go to the motherboard support page check to see when they last updated there drivers. sometime intel and realtek (for sound have the newest drivers). also check to see if your motherboard bios is need of any bios updates to fix any bios bugs. .) when online go to nvidia or amd web page and download the newest gpu drivers if your using a 3 party gpu. if your runing windows 7 because there a lot of updates dont do all of them at once you cant cause windows to lock up when installing to many service packs at once. do 10-20 then reboot. there are few updates you want to do one at a time and then reboot those are the .net updates.
