why does my default gateway show up as 2620:9b::1900:1

That's an IPv6 address. You can disable it and use the IPv4 address. In the network connections, just remove the check next to IPv6.

It's a component of the network adapter properties. Just go to the network sharing center, right click on your connection, click properties, and uncheck the box next to IPv6.
