Hello, I am about to buy a GTX 760 SC from a friend with a 600watt power supply, now I know its going to bottleneck my cpu(Amd Athlon 64 x2 2.60Ghz) but the question is how bad will the performance drop?
I am about to build a new gaming pc but for now im using this regular pc.

Solution
eh, it will be a pretty significant bottleneck. i would upgrade your mobo and cpu, and probly ram unless you already have 4gb ddr3. the gtx 760 wont provide a whole lot of benifit now, but when you upgrade in the future, you can move the card over :p

It will be bottlenecked but not as bas as one may think. (Most games only use 1 core) Of course you won't get the same performance as a new i7 but you will still get good frame rates.

Thanks, thats what im doing right now, one step at a time already bought a mobo(msi FM2-A75-E33),CPU(Amd A10 something...) just need the ram and im good, and no my specs are pretty outdated
only got 2GB ddr2 plus its and HP.
Thanks for the help.

great :) 1 thing though: if you can, i would not get an APU because you will have a gtx 760. an A10 will lack a little cpu power, not too much, but i would go for an fx 4300, 6300, 8300, 8320, or 8350. well, when you get your system together, see how it preforms. if it preforms fine, then great. if not, its probly the A10.

Ok, Good advice I always wonder how it would perform with and APU, so I should switch to AM3+?

If you find an FX8320 for a good price grab that! If not, why not buy an i5 4570?

I think Im going for the FX processors because of their lower prices, im in a tight budget($500)

Good luck with your new system! I have heard alot of good stuff about the FX series. One of my PCs has an AMD Phenom II X6 1045t and it still runs like a tank!
