first, here are the specs:

motherboard- ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0
cpu- amd fx 8350
gpu- pny geforce gtx 760 2gb gddr5 oc
ram- 16 gigs of ddr3
psu- evga 750w bronze

so, ive spent a large amount of money piecing this together for months, yet i noticed a bit of lag while playing the new thief game on high settings. this was during the start of the game, as it seemed to smooth out as the cpu reved up, but was wondering what the weakest point is in this setup. should i be concerned (more so for the future) and if so is it an issue with the gpu more or should i try and put money into overclocking the cpu and keeping it cool, as it stands everything is set at factory specs. thanks so much as i would like it to stay able to play games on high settings for a few years. oh and one over another is imperative as i have a finite amount of funds and switching to another cpu is not an option.

it may be worth noting i do not track my fps but this setup ran bf4 ac4 nfs rivals all quite smoothly on high settings just being precautionary.

There is no real weak point. It's a good system that should handle most games. Take into account Thief came out what a few days ago. It's going to take a few patches to get everything smoothed out across all the systems as they get feedback and see what needs to be patched.

Also, you don't mention your HD's. Could the lag at the start been HD lag and loading issues till it loaded enough. Things like green WD drives aren't meant for gaming and can be a weak point in any system regardless of anything else.

ya i ran the games benchmark and min fps was 0, max fps was 63.5 and ave. fps was 42.2. while watching it though it obviously started low and raised as time passed.

i didnt and still dont know much on the HDD but device manager says WDC WD10 EZEX-22RKKA0 SATA. its 1TB and is one of the only components left from original build as i got the rig off newegg then replaced nearly everything. i feel you may be onto something with the HDD but what do you think

that being said should i invest in a ssd for games and if so suggestions? i did notice my wd drive is rather average but would the ssd improve games?
