I just built a new rig with an A10 7850k, 16gb 2000mhz ram and am currently shopping for a card to work for dual graphics.

I understand that the chip supports the R7 240 and 250 cards. Does anyone know if it will work with the "new" R7 250x? If so, is there any benefit in getting a 1GB vs 2GB DDR5 card or not?

At the moment 1GB of RAM is considered adequate for up to 1920x1200 resolution. However, the general opinion is that for 1920x1080 / 1920x1200 resolution you should get 2GB graphics card since games are using higher resolution (quality) textures.

The problem is that the Radeon R7 250 is a weak graphics card even when it dual graphics with the integrated R7 graphics core. Yes, you can play many games at 1920x1080, but you need to use low graphic settings for decent performance in some games, or perhaps up to medium quality in games that are not very graphics demanding. High quality graphics would probably work for older games.

Using low / medium graphic settings basically defeats the need to have 2GB graphics card. But using high...

Currently the only cards supported in dual graphics are the R7 240 and 250 (not 250X). Both 2GB DDR3 and 1GB GDDR5 versions of the cards do work.
AMD says the DDR3 versions are the cards that seems to be the "sweet spot".
Personally I went with a R7 250 1GB GDDR5 since it will be faster in applications where the dual graphics will not be enabled.
