Hi, is your new screen has the same number as the old one?

There are two types of screen used.
In older laptops it is common to find a Lcd screen that has what we call a cold cathode white back light.

This type needs the video ribbon to be connected to the laptop board.
But there is also a connection from the laptop board to a smaller circuit board called an invert-er board this drives the back light or cold cathode white light tubes placed behind the lcd screen so the image on the lcd can be displayed and seen. Shines the white light through the lcd screen for brightness.

The second type is a Led back lit array where only one cable is connected to the laptop board and it drives the led based back light, as well as the led screen.

If you buy a new Lcd screen then you must make sure it will run with the invert er if cold cathode white light back light based. So you must get the exact model number and brand of the original screen that was used. Found on the back of the lcd.

You cannot run a Led back light screen on a cold cathode based laptop and vice versa.

This is a second replacement screen and exact model. After I ordered the first and removed the original cracked screen, I reordered as per exact model number/brand since the first one did not work. After the first experience, rather than rely on laptop model I suggest to all to order a replacement screen after dis-assembly to avoid having to return/reorder the part. BUT, even with this second "exact" replacement screen, I can only see my desktop/screen very faintly. It is almost black. All appears fine on an external monitor (television via HDMI cable). Thanks!

Shaun, my 2012 Vaio VPCEH also identified as PCG-71912L does not have an inverter. But, I wonder if I blew a fuse or could this 2nd replacement screen be faulty though I see very very very faint images. Could I have damaged the connector by attempting to connect the previous 1st screen that was not a match? Thanks.

Sorry never remedied nor received any suggestions. I am looking forward to hitting up the very reliable and reasonably priced folks at Micro Center when I pop into Houston...
