I currently have a Samsung SyncMaster 2232 BW Plus monitor at 60 Hz, 2ms refresh rate, and max resolution of 1680 x 1050. The monitor works fine, but since it is about 3 years old I was wondering if to invest in a new monitor. If so, what would it be the optimal choice for a monitor?
My other specs are:
ASUS M5A99FX Pro R2.0 AMD 990FX ATX
AMD FX 8350 4GHz BE
GIGABYTE RADEON R9 270X GDDR5 4GB OC
OCZ AMD Black Edition 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM 1600

do you game alot? if so do you play online multiplayer fps games? if so you most likely want the same low input lag with a higher resolution. here is a good one for $140 although all low response time monitors are TN panels.

if you like single player games or do alot of photoshop/video editing/movies you might want to check out ips panels. picture is way better, awesome viewing angles, more vivid colors. these are a tad more expensive, this one is $150

do you have a budget in mind?

I'm thinking in the range of max $250. I did some digging and I think I found the right monitor. Thanks for you opinion.

Thank you for your suggestions. I've checked both of the monitors you suggest and they are nice, but they only offer bigger screen (24") and higher resolution, which is a step forward from what I currently have. The only thing I don't like about them is their frequency: 60 Hz. I do a lot of gaming and since I bought this video card my goal is to be able to get as many FPS as the card could give me. Therefore a 60 Hz monitor would limit the FPS at 60. I did some research myself and I believe I found what I am looking for.
Thank you again for your response. :)

that qe is considered one of the best gaming monitors. before i didnt know your budget so i couldnt get you what you wanted. this model also reserves 2 upgrade paths
1. nvidia active 3d
2. nvidia gsync kit
gsync is awesome as it locks to your average fps. this eliminates dips in fps in online gameplay. the kit is around 200 and a good choice when you have another 200 dollars to spend.

just be sure you have the graphics horsepower to achieve the max fps in what you are looking to achieve :)
