WillBurr3 takes it too far. An APU can be used for gaming on modern games at pretty decent settings. Newegg close to a year ago now gave me a free A10-6800k to test and review on their website. I was able to play Medieval II Total War on high settings at 1080p, and Bioshock Infinity on medium settings 1080p with good frame rates over 30FPS.
APUs are excellent for gaming on a budget, but if you plan to buy a graphics card it is not for you. They do not crossfire well. If you are for sure getting the graphics card you should get the Vishera AMD CPU or an i3 isn't a bad choice either.
If you decide not to buy the graphics card, getting an AMD A10-7850k will give you pretty great performance in games also.
