1000W PSU with no working fans

I've had a 1000W PSU that got given to me for free by a friend and when I got it the fans didn't work, so I unplugged the main top one (has 3 fans none work) to get some air flow into it and tried to replace it but it seems that any fan I plug into it doesn't work but works fine on my mobo. I've had it running for around 5 months without a main fan and kept the other two in it which don't work. After I did some research I got quite worried that people where saying it is fine to run a 350W PSU without a fan but a 1000W i'm not sure. My system only draws around 500W and its around a $1000 setup so if the PSU shits itself i'm screwed if it takes anything with it. So far I don't think is overheating and no funny smell that I've been told you can smell when a power supply overheats. So is it ok to keep running it or should I buy another? If so could anybody recommend me a cheap one?

Looks very good and cheap for a semi-modular psu but cant find any that ship to Australia for a decent price :/
