I've had an Asus k55V laptop for just over a year now and recently things had be going wrong with it, I fixed most of the problems as I saw fit and they went away as planned, however now it's having a problem that I can't close the case of my laptop without it turning off, the laptop works perfectly fine if the case is open, however if its closed it will not turn on (AT ALL)

Solution
I incline to say the problem is the power button, like Pr3di said before, when the keyboard is up, you create the contact, but when you put it in his place, the contact is open for the power button. I don't know if you have a board for the power circuit, if you have that board, take it out and look at the ribbon going to that board, all the connections are solder properly.

Sounds like something that can be fixed from Control Panel - Power Options (I think) - Choose what closing the lid does (or something similar).

I think that you have it set to put the laptop to hybernate once you close the lid.
Check that out and let us know.

I assume it's a contact issue. Either the power button, the HDD, the power supply, or something in your motherboard.

You should really take it to have it fixed, because I would actually need to have the laptop in front of me to proper troubleshoot.
