Skype skipping and cutting in and out. Only happens to Skype, no other programs. Happens to all computers in household.

So simply put the problem is any time I enter a skype call, sooner or later my voice will start cutting in and out; mid sentence my voice will go silent for several seconds, with no quality loss outside of the cut out. Sometimes my voice won't cut out at all, and will instead skip or stutter. Usually however it is the cutting out. Obviously you can see how frustrating this is having conversation ruined by such a problem. All the while I can understand everyone perfectly, Skype tells me my connection with the call is fast, all the good stuff.

The kicker is, as said in the title, it only happens to Skype. No other program I use, whether it is a VOIP program like Skype or whatever else, has any internet issues. Even testing it out is a pain; using it isn't reliable, very rarely will the playback have my skipping problems. Yet it happens regardless whenever I enter a call in Skype.

My internet speeds should be no issue. My download is 117mbps and my upload is 34 mbps, roughly according to Speedtest. I use a wired ethernet connection, not wireless. My ISP is Optimum Online/Cablevision.

I have used multiple versions of Skype yet the problem continues regardless of version. Currently I am on Skype 6.9 to escape the sheer amount of ads.

I use Comodo Firewall and Peerblock. I have disabled and uninstalled them multiple times, does nothing.

It isn't my mic. I have tested my current mic a thousand times and playback is flawess. I have switch with an older mic, no difference.

Doesn't seem to be my computer, I have used my laptop to test if the problem happens, still does even on a wireless connection, yet more "mild" according to my friends. I even did a fresh install on my computer earlier. I'm still game to try out anything on my computer since I'm so desperate.

Originally I thought it was my router, yet plugging the ethernet cord directly into the modem doesn't stop the problem. I use an Netgear R6300 with dd-wrt firmware installed on it.
I even replaced my modem today, only to get the same exact problem.

I'm going to contact my ISP again however their tech support is pretty bland, only really suggesting to get a new modem which I already asked for.

From all accounts it seems to be on Skype's end, yet I am at a loss to fix it. I'm game to try anything. Last thing I tried was uninstalling spybot, which from what I understand modifies system32's host file. Strangely enough my cutting out has stopped since I have done what, though time will tell if that's truly a solution.

Anyway, any sort of help will be greatly appreciated.

I also would have edited my previous thread about this, yet I can't seem to.

Try taking your laptop to a friends house and see if the problem persists - if it does not, you know it's something in your setup, not Skype being rubbish. But from what you've said (especially about tech support) I would be considering an alternative ISP (though I know that can be hassle). Where in the world are you? In the UK I'm with Utility Warehouse and there tech support has so far been surprisingly good

Would if I could, I only recently moved here so no friends. I'm in the US, New York specifically.
