Hello all, and thank you for reading this message.
I have a problem, about 4 months ago I bought myself a $2000+ computer, but it seems that this beast that I spend all my money on does not like to play games at good FPS and lags in every game I play, any help or advice would be awsome, I will list my components and the "fixes" i have tried below.

My setup:
OS: windows 8.1
CPU: Intel i5-4670K (not overclocked)
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 780 (Gigabyte)
RAM: Corsair Vengence 4GB DDR3 x2
PSU: (I dunno just in case) Corsair 850W HX 850 ATX Power Supply 80 PLUS GOLD
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H Motherboard

OK now, I have updated the BIOS, I used the gigabyte BIOS updater, I have double checked my drivers and updated the ones that i can find in Device manager.
example: I was playing Dark souls for PC, my PC should easily be able to hold down 30 FPS even in blightown, but it is unable to do this, and sticks around 11-15 FPS everywhere. the same for Skyrim.

Thank you for bearing with me, if you require any more information please contact me, any help at all, even the obvious stuff is highly appreciated. Thanks again.

Your motherboard will have a few downloads...chip-set...nic...sound... also check Windows update... I personally use DriverPackSolution it automatically searches for any missing or outdated drivers and updates them itself!

I`m thinking that you might have a driver conflict or something of this sorts.
Can you try to reinstall windows? But first make sure that you already have all the drivers you need, especially the Chipset and Diplay ones.
And make sure that you don`t install more drivers found from different locations.

In this situation, more is really not better.

- For temperatures: Download speccy
- Look for Nvidia gtx 780 driver updates
- Look for the main programm installs like java 64 bit (I remember I installed the 32 bit and it was a LOT slower).
- Download DirectX 11 (I remember I had to install DirectX 11)

As your PC is quite high end, setting your settings lower won't really "help" as you should basically be able to play everything on ultra...

To be honest, I play on the one that looks the best, though 1920x1080 is the one I am using for dark souls currently.

the only drivers I have installed manually are the bios and the graphics cards, and I have not doubled up on any drivers, win 8 did the wireless adapter for me, and I installed the drivers for the mobo via the disk that came in the box

As I write this, I am reinstalling my graphics card drivers, for the second time. So hopefully it has been this easy all along...
