Ethernet controller missing after a fresh restart of XP 32-bit. Realtek RTL8111-GR Gigabit is the ethernet controller type. PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS, is the device Id. Intel DG31PR. I went to both the Realtek and Intel website to download the drivers. I downloaded the correct drivers from Realtek onto a thumb drive. Downloaded it to my PC but it did not complete the download. I was prompt with the message " The Realtek Ethernet Controller was not found". My question is, How do I download the ethernet controller, and where do I get the driver from?

Solution
Hi

The correct site to visit is the Motherboard Manufacturers web site
If there is no XP driver for this motherboard you will have a problem BUT if motherboard is Intel DG31PR
link below should show XP drivers

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Desktop+Boards&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+3+Series+Chipset+Boards&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Desktop+Board+DG31PR

Presumably you have lost the motherboard drivers CD (or maybe you never received them)

If this does not work you will need to check the NIC is enabled in BIOS settings and that when a network cable is connected that a link led either on the motherboard network port or the other end on a switch is on to show it is enabled.

best of luck
