Arma 3 running low fps with FX8350

Hi,
I am new to this forum, but I have a question. My arma 3 is running at low FPS, mostly around the 25fps. I have a AMD FX8350 and a R9 290. Does someone know what may be wrong with my pc? Battlefield 4 and other games run just fine, Battlefield 4 about 80fps on Ultra with rendering scale on 125%.

Maybe it's just arma or is it my system?

Arma 3 is really intensive. Any PC has a hard time running it. The engine is very horribly optimized. There are some things you can do to improve it. Here is a ton of steps to help you improve it. http://day0.com.au/forum/arma/638-arma-3-performance-tweaks-and-settings-guide I know this helped me a ton and I hope it helps you too! Also, do you have Arma 3 on your SSD?

Well, there's nothing wrong with the system, it's the game. It is horribly optimized, I do hope they do some patches for it though. I'm pretty sure it was the same way for Arma 2 as well.

And if you haven't already, make sure your GPU drivers and overall PC drivers are up to date as well as game updates and such.

I don't want to be rude or anything but if Arma 3 is so CPU intessive as you say then why does it only use 20 to 30% of my 8350?

Anyways no matter what settings i use i always get the same FPS. All on the lowest all on ultra same story :/

The servers are one of the biggest problems. Single player i have no problem at all. MP yeah lucky if you get 25 or 30 fps.

Oh and i've even seen people with beasty intel setups that get shitty fps too.

Another thing about the servers is that when a server just starts with 80 players i get around 60 to 70 fps in the spawn (King Of the Hill) i get into the city and i have around 40 fps... After playing 10 minuts or so i get 40 fps in spawn and around 20 in city... And whille i'm playing i'm not changing anything on my PC .... Soooo can't be my cpu. that just suddenly decides to not "work" Tried to close the game and join the same server again and still the same so not an issue with my PC.

The game/server are coded like shit and there's somthing wrong with the memory use or something since the servers run smooth the first 15 mins and then just shit for le next 2 hours.

That is probably also why servers have to restart so often. It's not AMD fault it's the game devs that use old obsolete codes. And they can't just change it.

Tried all optimization things, and only OC gave me noticable boost from 4.00ghz stock to 4.70ghz i get maybe 5 fps. Coool

I have an 8350 at 4.8. ARMA is very CPU intensive, but also only uses 2 cores. Thats why your CPU is at 30% usage, because its stressing very few cores very heavily. Really, the best way to make this game run is to get an intel, sadly. Although there are tweaks that help. Keep your graphics settings on high. Low puts more stress on the CPU, hurting your performance. Try to play on servers that don't run as many scripts, as that is what causes your slowdown in MP. The ARMA engine is just quirky, sadly because it is a great game. I've just stuck with ARMA 2, as it runs better for me.
