Hello there,
I recently bought a new PC with these specs:
INTEL i7-3770k @ 3.5 Ghz (Stock)
EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780
AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Professional
Alpenföhn Matterhorn
Samsung SSD 840 Pro
Western Digital Velociraptor
16 GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
Corsair AX 860
But now I am confronted with an issue I hoped I would not face anytime. It underperforms and I don't know why.
I benchmarked my GPU to see if it was working properly - It did.
But now I am struggling to verify the performance of the other components (RAM, CPU and maybe the motherboard itself).
I hope you could help me out here!

[Edit:
some Weird framerate
ArmA 3 on
Ultra = 20-30 fps
Low = 30-35 fps

I should get more out of it, shouldn't I ?]

Solution
download CPUz or another program and monitor your CPU usage. I doubt it would be a faulty CPU, but you never know. Also could be your RAM, try running with only 1 stick of RAM at a time.

Hi, I don't own ArmA 3 but from what I've read it can be very demanding. You didn't mention what you clock speeds were on the i7 3770K but from the frame rates they look to be stock. If you were to overclock the i7 to say, 4.4Ghz you see considerably better frame rates.

His rig is still very high end. If it cannot handle arma 3 on high because of hardware caps then 90% of computers out there won't even come close to maxing it.

Okay, I will do that.
Is it possible that the CPU isn't using itself properly? I have been playing Assetto Corsa and I can't play with more than 11 AI cars. I asked the steam community and they replied they are able to run with 24 without a problem.

I am not completely familiar with Overclocking, but I will try that. Can you recommend me a proper guide for doing it?

What would be a sign of a faulty CPU?

Not exactly sure, never heard of a CPU just "acting up", usually the computer won't work as the data the bad core is trying to handle will be lost. I'd think abnormal core usage, like random spikes, or one core is hardly being used while the others are at max.

To be honest I really doubt it's your CPU, I'm putting my money on a driver issue.

Well, then you lost your bet. I am still getting low fps.
I had CPU-Z running in the background whilst playing ArmA 3, what should it show me?

Well, the only thing I was able to read off of CPU-Z was that the clockspeed moved up from 1,5 Ghz (before starting the game) to 3-3,5 Ghz (whilst playing ArmA)

I am running now Dual Channel 4x2 instead of 4x4. I am getting 10-20 fps more out of ArmA, depends on where I am heading. Thank You!
