I am planning on getting a corsair h100i and want to switch out the stock sp120L fans that come with the h100i but I can decied which edition I should get the sp120 Hp Pwm or the sp120 QE pwm. I have a msi z87-g45 motherboard with and intel core i5-4670k cpu at 3.4ghz I am planning on overclocking that to around 4.50ghz my room temp is usually cold no heat on kinda gets really cold in here. Which version should I go for for performance and loudness in consideration.

More about : corsair h100i sp120 queit pwm

the high performance are going to cool better but at the cost of more noise. depends how cool you want that overclock vs how much noise you can handle. of course it will ony rev up the fans at full load 100% when it gets too hot so you won't hear them all the time.

I use these for my H80i, they are pretty quiet even at their highest speed, and they are PWM so the software with your H100i will be able to manage them.

Noctua has some really great quiet SP PWM fans as well, but I can't find them this second, if I do I will repost :-)

The H100i thermal performance is generally better then the best air coolers, but it relies on its 2700 rpm fans to provide it's cooling ..... change them to something quieter and slower and the performance puts it below these air coolers (Phanteks PH-TC14-PE, Noctua DH-14 and Thermalright Silver Arrow) which are $25 cheaper.

As you can see here, Corsair attempted to address the noise issue with the bigger H110 but with the slower / quieter fans, it only ties the Noctua DH-14.

The H100i's fans are based upon the SP120 BTW.

Yes I know the stock fans are based off sp120 but I really want to add these fans because they have the colored rings which i want to add red so it can match my motherboard and ram.

So should I go with the hp over the quiet even over the noise for the overclock or not to big of a difference.

What are your temps usually and do you overclock or stock speeds with those fans and your cooler.?

I run a 4.4Ghz OC on my i7 3770k and it tops out at 75C after 10 -15 mins at full load, but never come close to that during gaming usage. What JackNaylorPE said is absolutely correct though. You won't quite reach the stated performance with a quiet branded fan. They basically just run at lower RPMs, but the fans that come with the Corsair AIO coolers are pretty loud lol. Even at full speed I can barely hear the fans I'm using. The performance is only slightly better than the CM Hyper EVO I was using before, I just couldn't deal with the noise of the stock fans on the H80i.

If you don't mind the noise of a HP fan, then you will definitely get a cooler OC with them than a quiet fan.

You can always buy a voltage adapter to make them as quiet as the quiet edition.
