Crosshair V Formula-Z and FX9590

I have the Crosshair V Formula-Z and the FX9590. What i want to know is how is this possible?because its a 220w cpu and the board claims to max at 140w. and how am i being affected by this?

well, the board does say the max is 140 watt. however, ive also heard it is compatible with the fx 9xxx series. i would not recommend overclocking, or running at 100% too much. also, you can damage the board running that extra 80 watts through it.

it won't affect you, those numbers are thermal design power (how much heat the CPU Cooler needs to dissipate)

an advice from a brother, get an aftermarket CU Cooler if you don't want your CPU to get fried

because the 9590 is an overclocked 8350, and the 8350 is a 125W cpu.

you don't know what you're talking about. OP, please ignore this poster.

Your crosshair formula V is more then capable to not only run that cpu, but overclock it agressivly. ignore the 140W max; of all the amd motherboards out there to run the 9590, the crosshair formula V is at the top of any list i would make.
