Hi, I was just wondering what the cheapest Dedicated GPU you guys would recommend to play WoW Decently? I'm asking this not really for me but my brother as he plays it from time to time, his Current PC is one I got him and his wife years ago, a HP Pavilion a6345f with a HP W2007 Monitor that was bundled with it, Specs are (From HP Website):
Windows Vista Home Premium
Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4GHz, 8MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB
Intel G33 Express Chipset
3GB RAM (2x 1GB, 2x 512MB DDR2)
400GB SATA 7200RPM HDD
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100
up to 287MB Total Available Graphics Memory as allocated by Windows Vista

20.1" Monitor
5ms Response time
1680x1050 @ 60 Hz Max Resolution
DVI-D and 15 Pin D-sub VGA Inputs

Currently he plays on fair, maybe good graphics settings and even then FPS don't seem to be the greatest IIRC and upping Graphic settings further would cause a BSOD/Crash (My guess is a OOM Error due to limited VRAM). I was wondering what the cheapest possible GPU would be to improve things for him, preferably $50 or less and how big of a improvement he would see? would need to be energy efficient as I'm unsure what size the old OEM PSU is, also unsure of OEM MOBO in it. Looking at the site of a local computer store (Canada Computers), the Options based on $50 budget and current stock are:
Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3: Gigabyte: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_558&item_id=061344
ASUS: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_558&item_id=030149

GeForce 210 1GB DDR3: Gigabyte: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_559&item_id=043138
ASUS: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_559&item_id=054317

Radeon HD 6450 1GB DDR3: ASUS: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_558&item_id=060239
Sapphire: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_558&item_id=038372

there are also some GeForce 8400 GS Cards listed also (512MB and 1GB DDR3), but special order only, a EVGA GeForce 6200 512MB DDR2: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_556&item_id=035314
with a different EVGA GeForce 6200 available for Special order only: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_553&item_id=022461

after that is the $50-$60 Range with the GeForce GT 610 1GB DDR3 Cards, Radeon HD 5450 Low Profile with 512MB DDR2, Radeon HD 3450 512MB DDR2 and a GeForce GT 620 1GB DDR3

Canada Computers don't have the 6670 or 6770 listed on their website, the only Radeon HD 6xxx series they have listed are the 6450 in the range of $49.99 ($39.99 with $10 MIR)-$74.99 and 6350 from $61.71-$144.23. Looking on Kijiji though I found a HIS 6670 for $85: http://kitchener.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-computer-accessories-system-components-HIS-H667FN1G-Radeon-HD-6670-1GB-GDDR5-PCI-Express-2-1-Video-Card-W0QQAdIdZ567581840

When i searched for 6770, only result was a like new 27 inch iMac with a i5, 4GB Ram, 1TB HDD and a 6770 for $700 without Keyboard: http://kitchener.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-computers-desktop-computers-LIKE-NEW-27-INCH-iMac-W0QQAdIdZ566460050

hmmm, looking at a thread on here from November 27th 2011, they recommended a 5670, 6670 or wait for the 7670. someone else said 560ti but to stay within current specs, the GT 520 is all that could be squeaked out and that's weaker then the 5670 someone else linked in the thread, the OP Had a basicly identical system but double the Ram and bigger HDD with a Geforce 7600GS: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/334226-33-video-card-300w-power-supply.

also, I tried as best I could to recreate his current comp on PCPartpicker (Best I could as older OEM Parts not listed, and no Vista Home Preimium 32 Bit) and it shows 166W Estimated Wattage, maybe add some to that for older OEM Equipment and Cap Ageing.
Also, PC Part Picker was only showing 4 options for GPU, the Radeon HD 5450 (HIS and PowerColor), ATI Firepro 2450 or PNY Quadro NVS 420 (Nvidia I'm guessing?). 3/4 were 512MB VRAM with the HIS 5450 being only 1GB VRAM.

just checked Kijiji for 5670, 6670 and 7670, nothing for 5670, the HIS 6670 is still listed for $85 (Linked above) and there is someone selling a AMD A10-5800K, ASUS F2A55-M LE MOBO and a ASUS 6670 for $175, apparently the A10-5800K Can Crossfire with the 6670?: http://kitchener.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-computers-desktop-computers-AMD-A10-5800k-with-ASUS-F2A55-M-LE-MB-and-ASUS-6670-video-card-W0QQAdIdZ571167458

as for 7670, only thing was a HD M6-1058ca laptop with 15.6" 1366x768 Screen, i5-3210m Dual Core With HT, 7670m 2GB with Intel HD 4000 when not in use, 8GB Ram and 750GB HDD for $555: http://kitchener.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-computers-laptops-HP-M6-1058ca-Laptop-For-Sale-W0QQAdIdZ557883902

ALSO! never mentioned it, but he is not a Hardcore gamer, more casual. Right now he got, WoW, Uncharted Waters Online, Disciples 2, Age Of Wonders and Age of Empires on his Comp, I might be able to talk him into getting a free trial of FFXI with me also. I Think anything better then old Intel Integrated should do, just need help choosing best for cheap and what options are available for something so old.

Without a power supply upgrade, get the 7750, the 7770 may run but that is close to pushing the power supply to the limit.
For a bit less there is the Radeon R7 250 GDDR5.

None of the cards you listed in your first posts are any good for games, unless you are getting a used card you are looking at over $50 for a gaming grade video card, even at the low end.

so something around 55-80 watts eh? and $100? Looking at Canada Computers website and checking stock for the local store, there is a ASUS 7750 1GB GDDR5 sold out in store and online, on clearence but listed as special order with a price of $99.88: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_558&item_id=051989

there are a few R7 250s available though, there was a Gigabyte R7 250 1GB GDDR5 on sale for $10 off, regular price $109.99 on sale for $99.99 till today, there's 3 250s available for $5 less though ($104.99), a ASUS and Club 3D 1GB GDDR5 and a Club 3D 2GB DDR3 (Link to the ASUS one) : http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_558&item_id=064855

For the same price as the Gigabyte R7 250 ($109.99), there's a Sapphire 7750 Ultimate 1GB DDR5: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_558&item_id=049771

Everything else is $115+, including the GTX 750 (Non Ti, Starts at $139.99 for a Zotac with 1GB GDDR5: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_559&item_id=068605) That should have same wattage as the 7750 but better performance: http://www.hwcompare.com/17126/geforce-gtx-750-vs-radeon-hd-7750/

Checking used on Kijiji, there is a MSI 7750 2GB GDDR3 for $80: http://kitchener.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-computer-accessories-system-components-MSI-Radeon-HD-7750-2GB-Video-card-W0QQAdIdZ563529264

For the same price, I could get a ATI Firepro V7750 (1GB GDDR3?) or spend a extra $20 ($100) to get 2: http://kitchener.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-computer-accessories-system-components-ATI-FIREPRO-V7750-1GB-PCI-E-VIDEO-CARD-W0QQAdIdZ565466967

No Used R7 250 or GTX 750 Ti listed.

also, There is a Sapphire 7730 1GB DDR3 for $69.99: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_558&item_id=067784

out of curiosity, how big of a improvement should he get over his old Intel iGPU with any of the Above Cards?

Just wondering, but how about the R7 240? according to "The Best Graphic cards for the money: March 2014": http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107.html
Going to "Best Entry Level Cards $120 and under": http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-2.html
the R7 240 is listed for "the best PCIe Card for $70" and "Entry Level Gaming" then it's the 7770, R7 250X for "best PCIe Card for ~$100" and "Mainstream Card for Cheap"
the R7 240 goes for Regular Price of $84.99 (XFX: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_558&item_id=065968 and Club 3D: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_558&item_id=064641) up to a Sapphire for $114.99: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_558&item_id=064655

Cheapest currently though is a Sapphire one on sale for $69.99 til Monday (Regular Price $89.99): http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_558&item_id=064654

as for R7 250X, there's only 1 type in stock at the local store, a ASUS for $129.99: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_558&item_id=068921

The Thing is, the are 2 R7 250s listed that in theory should out perform it for less, a MSI R7 250 with a extra 80MHz Core clock and $15 Less then the 250X: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_558&item_id=064684
and for $5 less then that there is a Gigabyte one with 20 extra MHz over the 250X (50MHz Less then the MSI 250): http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_558&item_id=064886

The 250/250X is all listed at 1GB GDDR5 as opposed to the 2-4GB DDR3 of the R7 240

The 250 is not as fast as the 250X the 250X has almost double the shaders, texture units and render outputs. The 240 is fine also but it's slower than the 7750, R7 250 or the 7770/R7 250X. I'd get the R7 250 I linked above or the 7750 GDDR5. If you want to go cheaper, the 240 will run WOW just fine on high settings. Without a power supply upgrade, I'd be wary of going any higher than those. Radeon 7770/250X need 20-30 watts more power or so.

Just bumping this up. when I started this thread it was more out of curiosity and I might be able to get it for him as a birthday gift for his birthday in June. but he asked me today to help him out to find one. Price range he gave me was Maximum $80-100 Taxes Included, he needs to get it before the next Big Patch as in Warlords of Draenor as it pops up that his Graphics won't be compatible then.
Checking Prices at Canada Computers, closest to the High end of his price tag ($87+Tax) without going over, across the board is the XFX Radeon R7 240 2GB DDR3 (R7-240A-CLF2) for $85+Tax
Followed by the Zotac GeForce GT 630 Synergy 4GB GDDR3 (ZT-60413-10L) that is listed with a Regular price of $95+Tax but a $10 MIR is available till the end of the Month that would set the price to $85, but he likely wouldn't want to bother with a MIR so that's out of the Question.
going further, there is a EVGA GT 630 2GB DDR3 (02G-P3-2639-KR) for $80=Tax
Also for $80, there's a Sapphire 7730 2GB DDR3 (11211-02-20G)
for $75, there's a Sapphire Radeon Flex HD 6450 1GB DDR3 (11190-12-20G)
and at the bottom of the $80-100 including Tax Window is the ASUS GeForce GT 630 Silent 1GB DDR3 (GT630-SL-1GD3-L) along with a Sapphire Radeon HD 7730 1GB DDR3 (11211-04-20G)
as for GDDR5, only thing CC got in/below his price range is a Sapphire Radeon HD 7730 1GB GDDR5 (11211-03-20G) on Clearance for $60+Tax with only 3 Available not in a Local store and not available online.

Checking Kijiji for some cards, I came across a HIS H667FN1G Radeon HD 6670 1GB GDDR5 for $85 and a 1 Gb Gigabyte Radeon 7770 Overclocked for $80.

Why are you bumping it up? You have several suggestions already. Without a power supply upgrade, get either the Radeon 7750 or the R7 240, in GDDR5 spec if available as an option.

If you'll just keep listing every video card you find like you keep doing, you won't get anywhere aside from getting the thread locked for spam.

Mega Bump To Update & Close the Thread:
His Wife Got Him a Zotac GTX 750 Today (http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_1200_557_559&item_id=080693), I Installed it in the Computer and Installed the Drivers From The Disc (344,xx, .11 I Think?), Fired Up WoW to test it out and at 1080P with Graphics on the High Preset it showed 20+ FPS Flying Between Sen'jin Village & Orgrimmar, a Lot Better Then the Single Digit FPS at 1440x900 with Fair preset (With graphics turned down Due to Integrated graphics being to low spec) that he was getting. Installed MSI Afterburner to Check Usage & GPU Usage was Maxed at 70something%, CPU had 1 Core Maxed at 80something% the other 3 was 40-60something% IIRC, 26xxMB of 3GB System RAM Used, 4xx MB of 1GB VRAM Used.
Currently Hooked Up to his 1080P Smart TV Using the DVI-VGA Adapter, I Should have a Spare HDMI Cable Around though i could give him to use to hook it up to the TV With.
