Older RWDVD won't connect to new Motherboard

I don't know how to get my RWdvd player to connect to my new motherboard..the dvd has what Say looks like Duck tape that connects to it...I don't have that in my new motherboard. how can I get some kind of adaptor?

2 types of connections for semi recent drives.

SATA, or IDE. Google for the visual and pin differences.
Which is yours?

I have IDE for the DVD player. I don't see where I would put this on the motherboard

Right.
Either you can buy an IDE/SATA bridge device for $10-$15. Which will probably but maybe not work correctly.
Or you can just buy a new SATA DVD drive for $18 or so. Which will work 100%.
