System

PSU: Rosewill 650w
GPU: Radeon 7850 1GB
RAM: G.Skill DDR3 1600, 4GBx2
MOBO: Asus M5A97 R2.0
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120gb
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

I recently purchased new ram and have had my PC restart on me twice while watching live streams, as well as BSOD on me once. Ram is also set manually to suggested timings and my temperatures are just fine.

Upon opening up the dump file it states the Bug Check Code is: 0x0000003b
And it seems like the files causing this are ACPI.sys, discache.sys, ntoskrnl.exe.
This is just for the BSOD though, I did not get a BSOD when my PC restarted on me the other 2 times. I really want to say I have faulty RAM, I have about a 25% success rate when it comes to G.Skill. I will run memtest tonight when I sleep to double check.

The thing that worries me is, why did I get a BSOD once and the other times my PC just rebooted itself? Makes me think maybe there is 2 issues that have come to light?

Any help is appreciated. Let me know If I need to include anything.

Solution
Can drop it to 2T (the T and N are interchangeable (used to be AMD just used N and Intel used T, but with programmers jumping from one mobo to another, the leads all have their own preference, so Intel and AMD both use the designators sort of willy-nilly)....1 shows slightly better performance where 2 is generally more stable
Error 0x0000003b is normaly linked to a service exception error.

So it can relate in part mostly to a driver running under windows.
I don`t know what speed ram you had in prior to the two G.Skill 4GB x2 modules.

There are a few things you could try yo make the system stable again.
If the system performed stable with the old ram with out the symptoms you are having now. Then double check that the actual memory voltage is correct in the bios to what it states as well as the memory timings.
Make sure Xmp profile is enabled in the bios.
And if you have not installed the actual chip set drivers for the mobo Asus M5A97 R2.0
Then do so.

You last option is to check on the Asus website to see if there are any bios update firmware files to fix problems or compatibility, supporting ram modules of a brand ect.

My old 2GBx2 G.Skill sticks are the same speed as the new 4GBx2 sticks.

I'll go into bios right now and look over things. Chipset drivers are installed. I'll check for bios updates very soon. Thanks

Likely the DRAM isn't set up right, what model of DRAM do you have (the model #), am guessing it's running at 1066 or 1333 and the timings are off (as well as voltages for your particular CPU, not many 955s can run 1600 sticks at 1600 without additional voltages, if then

"G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL"

I had it manually set to 1600 at 9-9-9-24. The same timings as my old sticks of ram. The only thing that was still on auto was the voltage so I just set it to 1.5v

My PC has restarted itself once since I have posted this, but no BSOD.

Could the command rate have anything to do with it? I looked up my model and it shows it should be 2N, but in bios it is 1T.

I have not been able to run memtest yet as I misplaced my flashdrive. I left my PC on all night running a live stream and it did not crash. However 30 minutes into using my PC, (surfing the web, live stream) it rebooted on me, no BSOD though. I then went into BIOS and finally changed to 2T which is what my ram should be, 9-9-9-24-2T. So far I have not crashed. I'll have memtest results in 2 days. If nothing goes wrong in 2 days I think it might have been instability issues trying to run the command rate at 1T anyway.

I have not shut down my PC since I changed the command rate to 2T and have had no crashes at all. Left it on all day and night running live streams and Netflix. (My usual activities besides a video game or two on the side)
Should be getting a new flash drive in the mail today so I can finally put this to rest. I'll come back with results.
