I really hope you guys can help. My sister needs to do a clean install on her dell laptop. She can't find the discs that came with her laptop. Can I use my disc and then just punch in the key that's under her laptop to recover her laptop?

I appreciate any and all help.

That will probably work. Depends on the differences between the laptops.

But if all she needs is the OS, then you can download the official Windows 7 ISO files from here:

Burn to DVD, install, and activate with the key printed on the bottom.

It depends. Probably you can, IF you both have the same version of Windows. I did on with a Dell disc that came with an old Pentium IV and Windows XP. I successfully used it on another Dell that originally came with Windows XP. When used on another Dell it didn't even ask for the license key.

Hi
I was just wondering if I could get clarification on your post. We have a dell xp PC that we want to wipe and reload. We can't find any disk that came with it but would rather upgrade to windows 7 if we can. We have 3 reinstallation discs from various dells, some laptops, not sure if all are. Anyway, one is 32 bit, 2 are 64 bit. Do you think we can use these? Would it cause a problem to try? Thanks

If you're going to change to Windows 7, you'll have to buy a license. Which will come with its own install disk.
