Quite recently, I finally deleted all my Nvidia GeForce driver stuff since I had changed to AMD. One of the deletions required that my computer be rebooted. So, I rebooted , and Windows 8 started up with a black screen. I could use the cursor, but couldn't do anything with it, and I saw the network (I think) sign on the login page blink at random. I rebooted my computer, and was able to boot into safe mode with networking, which is what I am using now. Obviously, the screen is working in safe mode. I have a backup on an external hard drive, so I tried to replace certain files regarding the NVidea stuff I lost. Unfortunately, it seems as though I might need to replace the registry as well, and the driver folder too. Also, since I am in safe mode, I can't install any new AMD or NVidea drivers. (I wouldn't have been able to install the NVidea ones anyway) Does anyone know how to fix this problem? To me, it seems very much like a driver problem, and maybe even a registry problem.

Solution
any program installing reinstalling better reboot for better function.messing with the registry its a risky part if you dont now what your are doing better don't go in there.probably if you did edit the registry allready for time consuming better do fresh Windows install.

I suppose it is clear that I don't want to have to do a clean install, or copy huge masses of files from my backup to my system. I'd like to do minimal changes to my system, which I noticed that I did not post. I have a Biostar TA970 motherboard, an AMD 6100 processor at 3.3 GHz, an AMD 7800, which isn't recognizable because of safe mode. (might lead to the driver install problem)I also have a few fans, one of which I have recently (today) given up for my cd drive. I still have to run temperature tests on that. But, hopefully I could get this problem solved as quickly as possible and as easily as possible.

Just tried to initialize Catalyst Control Center, and no AMD drivers are "installed." I suppose this could be because Windows is using its "Basic Display Driver?" I used DirectX Diagnostic to figure that one out.

I absolutely never messed with the registry. I know that it's an important part of the computer, not to be messed up. I was thinking more like replacing the registry altogether with the old one, and replacing any Nvidea related files. Unfortunately, I can't do a fresh install. I got my motherboard replaced, and the OEM windows 8 key doesn't coincide with the motherboard anymore. I couldn't even do a refresh because the install disk "isn't valid." I'd think that replacing the drivers and registry would fix it, but if it's too complicated, then I won't bother. I could boot into linux, figure out how to access both drives, and replace all the system files with the zip files, but that's risky.
