I got some help here a month ago an a new gaming build but didn't buy yet because I've been waiting out the bitcoin madness. I might have to wait another month but in the meantime I'd like to solidify my build enough to look for good deals as they pop up.

That said, my intention is to build a gaming PC that will last 5-6 years without upgrades. I don't want to overclock (unless it's factory) and I want to pay at least some attention to noise level.

That said, I'm thinking about building a rig around a Xeon E3 1230 v3 and a Sapphire R9 290 tri-x. The cpu price has been steady around $245 for quite some time but I'm hoping for the Sapphire to settle down closer to it's $450 MSRP instead of the $600 it's at now.

Mobo
--------
Logainofhades was the guy who helped me before. He suggested the Gigabyte
GA-B85-HD3 for the mobo. I'm just wondering if there other substitutes that are just as good if not better. Again, the idea is I expect I'll have a month to watch for price deals.

System Mem
------------------
Likewise for the memory. The idea was I might as well go for 16 GB now being I expect to keep this build for 5-6 years and have no intention to upgrade during that time. I was looking at Team vulcan 16GB (2x8) DDR3-1600, but mem prices seem to fluctuate. With these same specs what other brands should I be considering and what would be a too-good-to-pass-up-price for this kind of memory?

PSU
------
Finally, I'll need a PSU. Other than what I've already listed, I'll probably pick up a SSD along with the HDD and of course a CD drive and that's it. All things considered how much wattage should I aim for with the PSU, again assuming no future upgrades.

Sorry for the long post. Thanks if you got this far. ANY feedback is appreciated. The whole build is pretty much up in the air for another month while I wait for vid card prices to settle.

Pretty much any RAM with CAS9 at 1600 with a voltage of 1.5v will be fine, RAM is RAM. Here's my suggestion:

Thanks, I'm still digesting your post, but a quick comment. So 650W is about right for the PSU? I've seen the seasonic 660W xp2 sometimes go on sale for $80. (I think with coupon or something). Would that be a superior PSU for the money? I believe the seasonics tend to run quieter as a brand.

You can't go wrong with anything from SeaSonic, so no worries there :) 650w is plenty, has plenty of headroom for overclocking as well.

I was only commenting on what you said you were still wondering, so if you have questions on the other stuff let me know.

You can't go wrong with a gigabyte motherboard either, they may not have the most features as other brands, but every board they make is good. Brands like Asrock and msi tend to skimp sometimes on their lower end boards, but gigabyte doesn't.

Thanks for the reply. However, as I mentioned, I wanted 16 gb mem, not 8. Likewise, I'm not going to overclock so I don't need room to do it with the PSU. Does this change your recommendation of 650? Is that overkill? I don't need a mobo that let's me overclock so that's a place to save money. I'll keep the other brands in mind, although I was hoping for some specific models to track for pricing. I'm trying to find a variety of components that will do the job but which I can watch for pricing. I'm not so interested in what the best buy is at the moment, but rather what the best buy may be over the coming weeks.
