Solved

Can't ping other computer in the same network, or open a port (use docsis 3.0 modem and a router)

this is the map of my network connection
wall->docsis 3.0 modem-> wireless router-> pc
docsis 3.0 modem
Netgear wireless router

I don't know what happen but I can't open a port, or ping other computers in the same network (did set up ip address). If I use the modem alone, everything work fine.
Please teach me what to do to fix my problem,

  1. First thing you should check is if the firewall is on.

    I use bitdefender as my antivirus

  3. I have never used but defender. Does it have any kind of firewall? If so try disabling it and see if that changes things.

    Turn antivirus firewall off ping again request time out as usual
  5. Hmm well that is odd... We have the same or very similar version router and I just tested the same thing on my end and you're right I can't ping one of my other computers but I can remote desktop to it just fine. So this tells me it has to be a firewall blocking the ping from either the router or windows. I'm going to check this on my end and let you know how to resolve it.

    And here is your answer! I'm going to assume you are trying to ping a computer that is connected wireless to your network. Go into your routers settings and make sure the following options and under Wireless Setup make sure "Wireless Isolation" is unchecked. I believe by default it's checked so removing that should resolve your problem as it just did for me.
  7. Look under router settings (type in default gateway into a web browser), once there look at device list make sure the devices you're trying to ping are even in the network.

    That link says wireless *range extender*, not wireless router....

    Hopefully you just got the wrong link, otherwise you need a router.
