Does SLI strain the CPU more than a single card?

This is a question that's circling in my head for some time now.

I'm considering a second GPU to go together with my first. However, I would like to know whether adding a second GPU puts more load on the CPU than having only one card (more heat, load, etc.)

Solution
Yes, it puts more load on the CPU. Generally a single thread on the CPU. Not only does the SLI/CF drivers have to work a little harder to manage two GPU's in unison, the CPU has to prep more frames as a result of having 2 GPU's. Heat is not generally an issue, but general performance is.
