Hi there.

I really need some help here as I'm running a respectably powerful PC yet for the past year, after countless hours of tinkering, I STILL can not fully enjoy the game I bought the PC for. The game is Planetside 2. Now I am aware that there are apparently optimization problems but I regularly see 7 fps in-game.

Specs:

AMD FX 4170 QUAD CORE
SAPPIRE RADEON 7950 3GB OC EDITION
16G RAM
750 WATT PSU
60MB DOWNLOAD SPEEDS
WINDOWS 7 64BIT

Thanks for any help and suggestions you might want to throw my way in order to have my PC working at optimal levels.

On a final note - I also play League of legends which works fine 90% of the time. When many effects are on screen however, i do suffer some low frame rates...but nothing as major as with PS2.

Thanks for the answer - I know my cpu isn't anywhere near top-notch, but as far as i've read, its a pretty respectable one and is well over the min recommended specs for planetside. I just did a driver install hoping for the best.

If this doesn't work, would you recommend overclocking? and if so, is AMD overdrive a good way to do it?

Cheers

The HD 7950 should guarantee you at least 40+ fps if it is not bottle necked. PS2 is a very cpu intensive game. Might wanna look into upgrading the cpu.

That is a fairly lop-sided system in CPU intensive games. Your CPU is going to hold back your 7950 a fair bit. I suspect your CPU is the root cause of your issue. Have you tried monitoring your CPU and GPU usage while playing?

I used to play PS2 about a year ago with a FX4170 and a HD 7850 and i never saw FPS that low.In major battles on medium settings i was on between 25-30fps and of course if everything was going off it would dip below that for a second or two.I was also under the impression that had optimised the game for AMD processors seeing as it is due for the PS4 soon.
