My computer freezes when playing games on the Native resolution.

Every time I play a game on my computer on the highest resolution, which is 1920x 1080, the whole computer freezes, at which point I can either restart the computer, or wait 20-30 minutes for it to unfreeze. It takes longer to freeze if I turn the Resolution to a lower one, but I enjoy having high graphics. These are my specs.

Windows 8.1 (64bit)
RAM: 4 GB
CPU: AMD Phenom II x 4 810 Processor
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series.
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P
Monitor: BenQ G2412HD

Personally I think it is remarkable that it will unfreeze after 20-30 minutes. That is impressive.

Is this happening on all games? Have you turned the eye candy down?

I had somewhat of a similar problem with my AMD 965 x4. I fixed the issue by reseating the cpu and reapplying the thermal paste. I know this does not seem like much of a fix but it worked for me.

may help check temperatures of the hardware cpu,gpu.and the settings important like aliasing.try lower that may helps two.

It happens on all games, and I have attemped playing on lower resolutions such as 1280x720, but it still freezes.
Its a relatively new GPU, (the old one would shut down my computer when it overheats.) How exactly would one go about reseating the CPU? I dont currently have any thermal paste and/or remover, so I would like to try reseating it.

Before freezing it was generally an average temperature for playing a game on good graphics, about 60-70 degrees. Not really anything that would be causing a freeze.
