Greetings:
Some games will not recognize the nvidia chip. Other games give me error @ startup "you need dx11 graphics card to play"

This laptop has a dx11 gpu (gtx 760m)

- yes , I have verified the control panel, and also manually set the games to start with the nvidia chip

- yes I have the latest drivers

- I contacted NVidia but they told me to contact the manufacturer (gygabyte... good luck with that, still waiting for reply)

I dont know what else to do. please help

My first suggestion would be to try an older driver or reinstalling the driver, or reinstalling DirectX 11, but I am assuming you have already tried all of that.

Its hard to pick out the problem. If you don't want to contact Gigabyte then doing a Windows reinstall might be your best option.

Here is a question: is there an option in the BIOS for shutting off Optimus?

Not the greatest solution I know since you'll end up using more power when on the desktop, but it maybe a temporary workaround while waiting on an answer from GigaByte.

Another thing to look at is if there is a new BIOS from GigaByte for your laptop.

Not to familiar with the inner workings of Optimus, but these were some things that came to mind.

EDIT: Just found this, it may not be exactly for your laptop, but the idea should be pretty much the same and pretty much what I was already saying:
