Hi, So the latest 4.5.1 security update wont install. Kept failing. So I started looking into it. It says my windows installer couldn't be accessed. Now here is the weird thing. Using command prompt I can make the box appear with no errors, saying what version it is, and what commands you can use. But its no where in the registry. Its no where in services. I have tried what has applied to my system. I have tried that fixit thing, which only served in removing all of 4.5.1. now. I cant reinstall that or even net 4. Same error, windows installer isn't on my computer.
Help?

I guess to add, what I need, is a way for it to be seen in the registry again and show up in services. I have looked at alot of pages tonight. Microsoft pages, etc. Nothing is working. I know how to use a computer and play around in all the places :)
Any suggestions would be great.

More info....made a system repair disc from wifes computer. that was one of the things on the web to do.
Ran it on mine. supposedly repaired stuff or was supposed to? didnt work. Still says no windows installer on my system. And now I have no netframework installed at all. I have tried using the files from microsoft for 4 and 4.5. Nothing. Constant fail.

I did read the first post clearly I asked because there are a number of different tools provided by Microsoft for different OS versions and updated tools the link I posted is the newest one available... just because you are feeling frustrated which I get please don't assume that people have not read your post

One thing i would try is to open up windows features and remove the .net framework option restart and then re-add it again... All versions of windows 7 has two options available windows foundation http activation and non-http activation (sorry if this is not the correct quote as this is from memory)

Try that see if it works if not we can look to see if there is another way

BTW have you got windows 7 SP1 installed because im not sure if this update needs SP1 or not

Also did you try getting this update via windows update or direct download from the Microsoft site?
