Hi all,

basically i couldn't access my HDD.

Firstly, I accidentally dropped my HDD (first time in 3-4 years) and it start produce noise and are unable to be detected. I searched online and they says that HDD dies after dropped (which i hope it will not die and tried methods shown online).

And somehow later, it hang my pc whenever it's being plug in and does not appear on 'my computer'. After which, it appeared but it couldn't be access or be formatted when prompted.I Google searched, and tried disk mgt etc. however it appeared that the file system is RAW, in healthy(primary partition) status and it's empty.

It couldn't be formatted at all, i tired chkdsk too but nothing was found. And whenever i tried open the HDD, it either show me I/O error or Parameter error. It can't be scanned by the window for error as well.

I hope it can still run for at least let me recover my data in it. Thanks in advance for the help.

Sorry, I am not very familiar with the pc system, so I am a bit confused.

I had only tired 'chkdsk c: /r'. Do you mean i have to try 'chkdsk c: /f' as well?

A dropped hard drive making noise and can't be read is likely dead.

After the initial drop and hearing the noise, you should have copied anything critical off it right then. Once they start acting up, drives don't get better, they just get worse.

Since the drive can't really be read, it is highly doubtful any recovery software won't work.
Possibly through a data recovery company, but that would likely cost thousands. How valuable is the data?

yes but I suspect your hard drive is broken beyond repair.
NOTE:This should be your last option You can try putting it on a freezer(the hard drive should be inside a waterproof bag) but this will only give you enough time to copy important data if it does work.

Yes, it might. Hundreds at the very least. I don't have any recommendations for a specific company, but they aren't cheap.

Since this isn't a case of simply recovering an accidental file deletion, far more intrusive means would be needed.
