How do I format ssd on drive c windows 8.1

How do I format ssd on drive c with windows 8.1? It tells me I cant format ssd as it has the operating system on it. I have the disk for the operating system to complete a reinstall.

Boot off the Installation disk, when you get to the 'Where do you want to install Windows' screen, choose 'Drive Options (Advanced). Use this to delete all partitions, and install to 'Unallocated Space, - allows Windows installation to create all necessary partitions...

What you need to do is boot off of your Windows media (DVD or USB stick) and start the Windows installation. When prompted, select custom or advanced installation. There, you'll see the option to reformat your C drive.
