Upgrading from Dual Core to Quad. Need some info.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-EP31-DS3L with socket 775 and my current CPU is an Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 @2.5 GHz. I'm going to upgrade to a Core 2 Quad Q6600 @2.4 GHz, for which the motherboard has native support(in the manual it says "Supports Intel Core 2 Quad").
My questions are:
1.Will the Quad be recognized and ready to be used right away, or will I need to update or reconfigure the BIOS? My BIOS version is Awards 9/16/2008.
2.I've come across a cheap aftermarket cooler, the DeepCool Alta 10. Will it be enough for the C2Q?

The Intel Core2Quad Q6600 will be recognized without any updates necessary.
The DeepCool Alta 10 supports socket 775 processors. It should be sufficient for any processor that fits that socket. Personally, I'd stick with just the stock Intel cooler (assuming your processor comes with one).

Good thing I won't have to flash the BIOS, as it's quite risky. But will I need to change any settings in the BIOS for the Quad to work properly(since I'm moving from 2 to 4 cores), or should I leave it as is?
(updating and changing settings are two different things)

OK thanks.
I want to buy that Deep Cool Alta 10, but its price causes me to rise my eyebrow. It's only ~$10. Any idea why it's so cheap?
BTW, it's about 9.5 cm across, making it ideal for my motherboard since I have little space. I've done some measurements and it should fit in nicely.
I haven't found any other cooler that fits.
But like I said, the price worries me a little because it's suspiciously low. I found it new at a retail computer store, and it costs the same at online stores, so it's not a fake. Is this cooler OK for gaming?

I've done a little more research and found out the DCA 10 has:
-copper core
-aluminum heatsink;
-NO heatpipes
-NO speed control(locked at 2500 RPM)

Considering these parameters, is it OK for the C2Q processor that I'm gonna use for gaming?
On the box of the Alta 10 it says "Compatible with Core 2 Extreme, Core 2 Quad, Core 2 Duo, Pentium, Celeron". Just because it says it's compatible with the CPU in question, am I safe to trust it?
