Hello guys, i'm planning on upgrading my PC and wanted to get some tips, as i've been away from the hardware market for a long time and don't really know the options at least motherboard-wise, and would love if some of you could give me some pointers! :)

To sum it up... i have an Intel Q6600 2.4ghz, on an asus striker extreme (1st edition... the horrible one), 8Gb (4x2gb) corsair dominator DDr2, and a very recently bought Asus Radeon HD 7870 dCU II.

so... basically, i wanted to go for a very strong upgrade to see if my PC lasts another 6-7 years without touching it (like it happened with this one)... for now i just wanted to go for a CPU+Mobo+RAM, and was looking a these:

CPU: i7-3820 3.60Ghz (skt 2011)
Ram: at least 8Gb DDr3 ... maybe Corsair Vengeance 2x4096MB (8GB) DDR3 1866Mhz CAS9 1.5V
Mobo: Asus P9X79 LE Intel X79 SK2011

PS: won't care about any onboard features (except for RAID 0 support & 6 SATA hdd connectors) , because i have powerful dedicated cards for sound, network, etc...

Final Note: i looked at this mobo because it's one of the cheapest, and the price difference to the model above from asus is around 90+€ ... and would want to keep this to a minimum as i have a somewhat tight budget... also, i'm planning on buying it in the end of march, or april... so if anyone know if there's anything planned to be released soon, let me know :D

Thanks a huge lot everyone for any comments on this!

Honestly, i just figured they would beat 1150/55's by miles given they're the most recent architecture, but haven't really given it much thought :)

Also note that i'm not planning on overclocking a lot either :)

(it actually annoys me a lot comparing the prices between 2011 vs 1150 motherboards...) it's massive really... from like 70-100€ to 200-290+€...
