Can a second monitor work with a different resolution?

Hi,
I have an old 19' 1336x768 monitor I want to use for a 2 screen setup. Would I be able to use this as my primary monitor is a 22' 1080p TV. Would this be able to work even though it has a different res, different size, and a different cable (Second screen can only use VGA)?

Thanks! :D

Yes, it will still work. Windows and other OS's output to dual screens just fine. You could also save your GPU by just connecting to your MoBo if it has on-board video.
