Can incompatible memory cause this problem?

Hi I upgraded my old build recently replacing all parts except graphics

I brought the wrong memory for my motherboard(I think) on my motherboards documentation website there is a list with compatible memory and of course it's not listed... I have just ordered some new memory that is supported.

My computer runs fine sometimes but then randomly freezes(temporary), especially whilst browsing the web (don't really play games hence why i didn't upgrade my graphics) however I did play BF4 and it crashed straIght away, running memtest I did 3 cycles, found no problems, the windows memory diagnostic also came back no problems. After an hour or 2 of being on my computer my mouse cursor also seems to be lagging slightly.

Task manager, memory usage (Gskill Ripjaws X Red 8gb, 2 x 4gb DDR3 1866mhz F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL) is ALWAYs on 39%, it doesn't change, even with nothing running. .

I'm pretty sure my memory is the problem is the case here, but I want to make sure and also ask whether using the wrong RAM for a while would have any impact/damage on my other components.

-Gigabyte 970A-DS3P AMD 970 Motherboard
-AMD FX8320 Black Edition 8 Core (3.5/4.0GHz, 8MB Level 3 Cache, 8MB Level 2 Cache, Socket AM3+, 125W, Retail Boxed)
-Samsung 840 EVO 240GB 2.5 inch Basic SATA Solid State Drive
-OCZ OCZ600MXSP-UK ModXStream Pro 600W ATX Power Supply

are the components I have recently added and I have just ordered
-Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz CL9 XMP Performance Desktop Memory Kit Black

Also would my memory modules be damaged now or would I be able to sell them on?

Thanks for any help given
