The last computer I built was in 2005 and it lasted me until last year. I like to target midrange components and then upgrade the video card or OC every few years.

I'm looking to buy 2 of these systems, one for me and one for a family member. At first, I tried to to budget between $800-$1000 using a GTX 760 and no SSD but I decided to upgrade to a GTX 770 and add the SSD.

I was looking at the Asrock Z87 Pro4 for $100 but it didn't support SLI, so I went with the Fatal1ty. In a couple years, I'd like to have to option to SLI when I upgrade.

I am not sure about the RAM, Power Supply, CPU Cooler and Case so I need help there. I basically copied those from other builds. Do I need a full tower ATX case or could I get buy with mid tower? Is it better to have a full case if I want to OC?

I went with the PNY GTX770 for only $319. Is this worth the upgrade from a GTX760 for $260? In the past I have bought EVGA video cards. I had an issue with the fans on one card and EVGA replaced with the lifetime warranty. From what I've read, EVGA no longer does lifetime warranties but now PNY does. There is a Newegg combo with the 4670K + EVGA GTX 770 that brings the price about the same as the PNY.

Thanks for any help!

Just change the GPU from Yours to this a extra gig of vram would be good for future and this is a awesome case

Video Card: Asus Radeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card ($328.99 @ Staples)
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 (Black Pearl) ATX Mid Tower Case ($79.99 @ Newegg)

You will be just fine with a mid tower no need for full tower!

And else every thing is good!

If you want to SLI, you should get at least a 700W gold or 750W PSU. You other selections are fine.

For a case, a full tower for a SLI set up with an air cooled CPU cooler would be nice. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/thermaltake-case-vn300m1w2n this is a nice solution from thermaltake. I'm not a fan of fractal, good quality but you don't get much in value or performance.

If you want to SLI you need to get a 4gb 770. If that isn't within in your funds then the 280x is a nice solution. The reason for it is that 2 770 will use more then 2gb of VRAM. the 280x has 3gb in every model. The 770 is the stronger chip between the 2 for gaming though.

Wow I did not know you needed 4GB on the video card to SLI. Maybe I will scale back the Asrock Fatali1ty and go back to the Asrock Pro4.

I just wanted SLI in the future. I figured I would be able to find a GTX770 very cheap in a few years.

Thanks for the tip!

This is my finalized build. I switched the Ares RAM for Ripjaws. I saw the bulk of builds I saw were using Ripjaws.

I want to order 2 of these tonight. Any last minutes things I missed?
