I am wanting to connect my PS3 (Through HDMI) to my 24" Packard Bell Viseo 243D using the VGA input (I am using the DVI for my PC). I have tried simple adapter cables but none have worked, presumably meaning I need to convert the signal first.

What would be the cheapest way to get about doing this? I have found a 'converter' cable on eBay, however for the low price I doubt this would work. I also want sound to be coming through some form of audio jack.

If VGA is not possible, what would be a recommended switcher box for DVI?

Thanks

VGA will not carry sound, so, even if you do find an acceptable conversion method, you will not get any sound.

This should fit the bill of what you're looking for. Note you will need an HDMI to DVI-D cable for your PS3.

Would this work in the same way?

And this will convert the signal to analogue? The reason it will not work with the VGA cable is apparently because the HDMI is a digital signal, however my monitor can only read analogue signals.

Thanks

DVI is a digital signal. No analog conversion should be needed. DVI is largely the same as HDMI, just without the audio pass through.

I would read a couple of the reviews on that - there seems to be a lot of complaints with low quality and flickering screen issues as a result of it.

Ah I see. I will investigate further and reply with what happens. Thanks!
