So my PC would freeze at the motherboard splash screen and then just go to a blank screen with a flashing " - " in the top left corner and stay like it.

I assumed it to be my motherboard so I RMA'd it, Gigabyte just sent me a response saying it's fine.
I put my 850W Consair PSU, GTX 770 in my parent's PC and it's working fine.
I guess that narrows it down to my CPU/RAM, the RAM won't fit in my parent's PC so I guess ill have to wait to test them; in the mean time does anyone have any ideas of what I could do to confirm which one it is?
My build is;

EVGA SC GTX770 2GB
Consair 8GB DDR3 RAM
Consair 850W PSU
Intel i7 3820
Gigabyte x79-UP4 socket 2011 motherboard

Try taking out all your ram and put 1 in at a time and see if one is faulty

Yeah. My PC wasn't opened or touched on the inside since September and has been working fine ever since; I just came home to the problem. I unhooked everything and put it all back together and the exact same thing happened. The RAM and everything was slotted correctly.

I believe I tried the RAM thing before I sent my mobo off, but I'll try it again when it gets back. I couldn't use memtest because I couldn't get into the BIOS to even try to boot from DVD.

If the CPU is dead I should hear a beeping correct? it didn't come with a case speaker so I guess i'll need one of these?

So I received my motherboard back today, hooked everything up and it's running better than ever.
Not that it matters but my motherboard splash screen is completely different, just curious on why?

Good to hear!

Maybe a bios update?
